I recently purchased the book, The Art of Manipulating Fabric, by Colette Wolff and I couldn't be more giddy. I've only begun to explore the techniques Wolff illustrates such as gathering, tucking, pleating, and various mixed manipulations. I look forward to practicing what I learn from this book!

Acid Dye on Silk:Immersion and Painting calss will start soon! As Lillstreet Art Center has a professional rocket steammer, we will be able to set colors on silk very nicely. Colors become much brighter! And permanent. It wil start from June 22 (SAT) 10am-1pm five week class (session I). Then start from July 27 (SAT) 10am-1pm for five week class (session I). There are various sewing classes to make dresses and/or interior decoration after learning silk immersion dyeing and painting.

These are samples for mixing colors from 3 primary colors.

So everywhere you look now a days, you’ll find a small update of fashion but what if you need the real whole deal. The dress, the bag, the shoes, the make-up, the hair and even the nails—these are all things that need to be polished and made proper for a wedding. Long wedding dresses adorned with velvet and jamawar are used now with gold embroidery and diamond ties. Long dresses are accompanied by skirts that contain tails that trail behind the bride as she walks. Red is also the evergreen color for the Asian bride. No matter how modern the bridal setting may be, the brides always wear red. Even if the bride is wearing a different color, she makes sure she places in a hint of red in order to symbolize the south East Asian tradition and culture. Also, brides are now wearing satin pumps which speak simplicity. Jewelry with polki designing embedded in gold is worn by brides worldwide. The hair of brides now is not pinned up completely and strands are left loose to cup the face.
